Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
Budget Berry LLC ("Budget Berry", "we", "us") makes Budget Berry, a money-learning app for kids ages 4 to 7 on iPhone and iPad, and runs this website, budgetberry.co. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we handle on the website and in the app, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
The app doesn't collect information about you or your child. No accounts, no ads, no tracking. Your family's progress stays on your device.
Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your card details.
On the website, we collect your email address only if you join our waitlist or write to us.
We never sell or share your email address with advertising partners, including in "hashed" (scrambled) form, and we never send it to Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram).
Questions? Email info@budgetberry.co.
1. Who this covers
This policy covers the Budget Berry app and the budgetberry.co website. The website is meant for parents, guardians and other adults. The app is made for children ages 4 to 7 to use with a grown-up nearby.
2. What we collect on the website
Information you give us
Waitlist: your email address, so we can tell you when the app launches.
Emails to us: whatever you choose to include when you write to info@budgetberry.co.
We never ask for your child's name, age, photo or any other information about your child on the website.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, our website host (Squarespace) collects standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that sent you here, and the date and time of your visit. Some of this uses cookies and similar technologies (see section 4).
3. How we use website information
To email you when Budget Berry launches.
To reply to your messages.
To keep the website working and secure, and to understand which pages are useful.
If you accept marketing cookies, to measure how our ads to parents on Facebook and Instagram perform (see section 4).
You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email, or by writing to us.
4. Cookies and the Meta Pixel
Our cookie banner lets you choose what runs:
Necessary cookies keep the site working (for example, remembering your cookie choice). These are always on.
Analytics cookies help us see, in total, how the site is used. They run only if you accept them.
Marketing cookies, including the Meta Pixel. The Meta Pixel is a small piece of code from Meta. Its code loads on our pages, but it is set to send Meta nothing about your visit unless you accept marketing cookies. If you accept, it tells Meta about your visit, such as the pages you view and whether you reached our waitlist confirmation. Meta uses this under its own privacy policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy). If you decline, or don't choose, it stays switched off and sends nothing about your visit.
What the pixel never sends: your email address, name or anything else you type into our forms.
You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings link on our website, or with your browser settings.
The Meta Pixel is only on this website, which is for adults. It is never in the Budget Berry app.
5. Who we share website information with
We don't sell your personal information. We never sell or share your email address with Meta or any other advertising partner, in plain or hashed form.
We share information only with companies that help us run Budget Berry, and only so they can do that job for us:
Squarespace hosts the website and stores waitlist signups, and sends our waitlist emails.
Proton hosts our email inbox (info@budgetberry.co), so it handles messages you send us.
Google provides reCAPTCHA on our signup form to stop spam.
Meta receives Meta Pixel visit information only if you accept marketing cookies (section 4). Meta never receives your email address from us.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's rights or safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our business (in which case this policy still applies to your information).
6. How long we keep website information
We keep your waitlist email until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or we no longer need it for the app launch, whichever comes first. We keep emails you send us for as long as we need them to help you.
7. Your choices and rights
Unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
See, correct or delete the information we hold about you: email info@budgetberry.co. We'll reply within 30 days.
Opt out of ad measurement: decline marketing cookies, or change your choice in the cookie settings. Some US state laws (such as California's and Texas's) may treat the Meta Pixel as "sharing" for targeted advertising. Declining marketing cookies opts you out of this on our website. You can also use our "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" page or email us.
We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.
8. The Budget Berry app and your child's privacy
Budget Berry is made for children, so we built it with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in mind, and to follow Apple's rules for the Kids Category.
What the app does not do
No accounts and no sign-in. We never ask for your child's name, birthday, email or photo. Each child is an animal picture you choose, with an age.
No ads, no ad trackers, no third-party analytics, and no third-party software kits.
Nothing about your family is sent to us or to anyone else. The app has no network code of its own.
What stays on your device
Each child's animal, age and setup choices, lesson progress and rewards, and anything you type in the grown-ups area (such as a savings goal name or a payday note) are saved only on your iPhone or iPad. We can't see them.
You can save a backup file from the grown-ups area. It stays wherever you save it, and it isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere safe.
Delete everything at the bottom of the grown-ups area removes all of this from the device. Backup files you saved aren't changed.
The grown-ups area
Settings, backups, purchases and links to this website sit behind a grown-up question that a young child can't easily answer. Children never see prices or purchase prompts.
In-app purchases (handled by Apple)
Free to start: the first 3 lessons on each age path are free.
Unlock the rest with either a Lifetime unlock (one-time purchase) or Monthly (auto-renewing subscription). Prices are shown in the app, in your local currency, before you buy.
Family Sharing works with both, so the unlock can be shared with your Family Sharing group.
Apple processes every purchase. We don't receive your card details, your name or your Apple Account email. The app checks with Apple's own system on your device to see whether the lessons are unlocked. Apple's settings such as Ask to Buy and Screen Time apply.
Cancel or manage the Monthly subscription any time in your Apple Account settings (or with "Manage subscription" in the grown-ups area). Refunds are handled by Apple.
Apple handles purchase information under its own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). Apple gives us sales reports so we can run the business; we use them only for that.
Parents' rights
Because the app keeps your child's information only on your device, you're always in control of it: you can review it in the grown-ups area and delete it with Delete everything. You can also email us at info@budgetberry.co with any question about your child's privacy.
If we ever change the app so that it needs to collect personal information from a child, we'll update this policy first and ask for a parent's verifiable consent before collecting anything, as COPPA requires.
Children on the website
We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 on the website. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Keeping information safe
We use reputable service providers and limit who can access the information we hold. No website or service is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.
10. Visitors outside the US
Budget Berry is based in the United States. If you visit the website from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the US.
11. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. If the changes are significant, we'll also tell waitlist members by email before they take effect.
